Marco Rubio (R)



Marco Rubio is the son of Cuban exiles and resides in West Miami, Florida.  He is the current Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from the 111th District.

He got his start as the Commissioner of West Miami.  In 2000, he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives and was re-elected three more times.  In 2006 he was elected the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.

Policy:
-Conservative Republican
-Anti-Establishment sentiment
-Authored 100 Ideas for Florida's Future.
-Was the figurehead of a 2007 tax overhaul that was supposed to lower property taxes and reduce the size of government.

Rubio was initially trailing then-Republican Charlie Crist by double digit percentage points but slowly gained momentum and passed him, causing Crist to run as an independent.
